Bethzadia Avila, a former Head Start student, embarked on her educational journey at Malloy Head Start in DeLeon Springs back in 2004. She continued her studies at Pierson Elementary and Taylor Middle/High School. Following high school, she became a mother and pursued her passion for working with children by joining a daycare. Inspired by her experiences, Bethzadia decided to pursue a degree in the field. She enrolled in AAA Dental School and earned a certificate in radiology, specializing in dental X-rays. This accomplishment led her to accept a position at Daytona Pediatric Dentistry, where she currently serves as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFBA). Reflecting on her childhood, Bethzadia fondly remembers her teacher, Mrs. Jeamary, and the engaging activities she used to do with the children. Recently, Bethzadia had a meaningful experience when she returned to the Malloy center to assist with dental exams for the children. It was a full circle moment for her, transitioning from being a Head Start recipient of dental exams to now being the one administering them. Additionally, Bethzadia and Mrs. Jeamary got to reconnect with each other and share just how much of an impact Mrs. Jeamary had on Bethzadia.
