Our Program Provides Breastfeeding Friendly Child Care Centers

Mid Florida Community Services, Inc. Head Start/Early Head Start is proud to be designated as a program that provides breastfeeding friendly child care centers by the Florida Department of Health.

Every woman’s journey to motherhood is different, but one of the first decisions a new mom makes is how to feed her child. When she chooses to breastfeed, she makes an investment in their baby’s future. The choice to continue breastfeeding and providing human milk for a baby after mother returns to work is no longer a lifestyle choice but a health care decision.

A center that is breastfeeding friendly:

• Provides an atmosphere that welcomes and promotes breastfeeding as a normal method of feeding infants
• Encourages mothers continue to breastfeed when they return to work or school
• Makes breastfeeding resources available to parents
• Feeds infants on cue and coordinates feeding times with parent’s schedule
• Trains staff so they can support breastfeeding parents
• Has a written breastfeeding policy
